I will beautify lives of Colombo residents similar to the beauty of the city – President
President Maithripala Sirisena says he would fulfill his responsibility to make the lives of the residents of Colombo beautiful, similar to the beauty of the city, by boosting them economically.
“Though the Colombo has been built as a beautiful city, solutions haven’t been provided to the problems of the poor people who are living in the slums. Hence, it’s the government’s objective to boost all people economically, by minimizing the gap between the people living luxurious lives in the palaces in Colombo and those who are sighing, living in the slums adjacent to those palaces”, he said.
The President was speaking at the ceremony to felicitate the workers of the Colombo Municipal Council, organized to mark its 150th anniversary yesterday (Dec. 21).
“We should make an end to the gap between the haves and have nots”, the President emphasized.
“The new government has established a separate Ministry to megapolis development. The plan for megapolis development, which is aimed at beautifying of not only the city, but also the lives of its people, will be implemented from next January 08”, the President stated.

What does mr sirisena mean by beautifying the lives of Colombo residents? To start with he ought to qualify the Colombo boundary and then population resident within.
Many years 50 years or more we read a book titled Civics that taught us the basic elements that would satisfy the basic needs. We have moved further away from these objectives so far that the task is monumental. But then Mr Sirisena with God by him anything possible.
Or is it just a dream or sone fantastic design!
What about the people in rural areas who live in squalor and have been since independence about 70 years back without water and electricity at the mercy of the politicians with nothing to call theirs.
