It’s time to change UNP leadership: Ajith P Perera
The United National Party (UNP) leadership should be changed before the next presidential election, Non-Cabinet Minister Ajith P. Perera said yesterday.
He told a news conference that it was high time for the party to choose its candidate and assign the party leadership to him.
“We have a few leaders with the potential to win the presidential election. The party leadership should be handed over to one of them,” the minister said. “There is one whom I prefer but the party could elect anyone as it has been done in the past.”
He said there were many others in the party who held the same opinion on the leadership change adding that there were no issues the current UNP leader and Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe, but one should remember that he had been party leader for the past 26 years.

This Ajith-Sajith nexus is a dangerous trend in Sri Lankan Politics.
RW held the UNP together for 26 years.
RW had the intention of becoming President only once, in 2005, because he had a definitive way forward with the Tamil issue. The R family took an alternative way forward and that way tarnished the image of the country and irreparably damaged the R Family.
RW is a great democrat and a great economic visionary.
The son of RP is excellent at dishing out handout to the community using taxpayer funds and at amassing personal wealth. He has no clue about Democracy and does not fit with the International Community.
We are a middle income nation; handouts are the bane of the economy; only RW has the vision to provide population with means to enhance living standards as we move towards a high income society.
RW does not want to be President; he wants to be the one who picks the next President.
RW firmly believed MS will be a one term President. Had MS acted with dignity, he would have been rememberd as a statesman. Unfortunately, MS has tasted glory in the Golden Chair and is acting to seek a second term.
RW is a deep thinker and an excellent strategist; the UNP should rally behind him for at least, 10 more years.
Thank God the R family took the so called alternate way. If RW had his way we would have had half of SL given to the tigers. And the other half sold to who ever.
SL is in the hole we are in today because RW put My3 where he is today. He gave no thought or consideration to the country as long has he can be the PM.
He took a gamarala and put him in the biggest job in the country knowing he will make a mess.
As for the leader ship of the UNP. RW is the one who brought the UNP down. Our generations have been UNP supporters but not any more. It is not the same party with a stagnating old fart at the top who can’t even win his own seat.I will not be a blind follower of any particular party. If only RW could have proved one of the allegations made about R’s and send one of them to prison I may have thought about supporting the UNP. Instead of that they came in and robbed the Central bank and sold the H’Bantota port that was supposed be useless because of a big rock that was blocking the ships. The only good thing he did was make the rock disappear before the sample.

Ajith Perera believes in solar Power which website was hacked when it stated that there is no solar power in sri lanka which is correct and this involves over Billion dollars loss to sri lanka is talking nonsense of changing the Present leadership
Well, RW had 21 defeats before he became to power piggy-backing Sirisena. Sirisena appointed him. Otherwise he will never become the PM. Yes, he ran only one time for presidency and got defeated. He never had guts to contest knowing that he will be defeated. Who says he is a great visionary. Come on if that so, SRi Lanka wouldn’t be in this mess right now. He further ruined ‘Sri Lanka Air’ by bringing his close friends to run the national carrier. He allowed the Central bank to be robbed in broad day light and allowed Arjuna Mahendran to escape to Singapur. What is doing by allowing these agreements to take place: ACSA, MCC & SOFA? UNP (with YP) accused Rajapakses for Lamborghini, Dubai accounts, Golden horses. If RW is so efficient why he couldn’t arrest Rajapakses and bring hem to book. He had all the time since January 2015.
