Johnston further remanded

Former Minister Johnston Fernando has been further remanded till 11 May by Kurunegala Magistrate today (6).
The Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) arrested the former Minister as he arrived at the FCID to give a statement on alleged financial misappropriations in the Lanka Sathosa Ltd.
The ex-Minister will be produced in the Court again on 11 May.

The Yahapalanaya is creating heroes! Why arrest these guys? They were Ministers in the previous regime and now they are nobodies. They are not in a position to exercise executive or ministerial power.
I have no problems in these guys being persecuted by the law for alleged misdeeds. But they should be indicted by courts and released on heavy sureties and perhaps, confiscation of passports.
But to take them to courts for hearings from prisons (one of them is in the Merchant’s Ward), it sounds stupid. The video shows not less that 300 policemen on duty when they arrive in courts. The amude wearing taxpayer is bearing the cost.
Dear Yahapalanaya practitioners, be down to earth and do not be vituperative and create heroes out of scarecrows and mangosteens.
