Namal Rajapaksa arrested by Bribery Commission

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organiser and Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
He arrived at CIABOC this morning (September 4) to provide a statement and was arrested after being questioned for several hours.
Rajapaksa appeared before the Commission following a summons issued by CIABOC, which had instructed him to be present at 9:00 AM today.
He was summoned in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged bribes linked to the acquisition of a wide-body Airbus aircraft fleet for SriLankan Airlines.
The arrested MP is due to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
