Police sergeant hospitalised after shooting himself in the head

A police sergeant attached to the Kurunegala Police has been hospitalised after he shot himself in the head, using a service pistol, inside the bathroom of the police station this morning.
The incident had taken place at around 8.05am today while the police officer had sustained injuries to the head due to the bullet grazing the side of his head, the police media unit said.
The 52-year-old sergeant, a resident of Wellawa, has been admitted to the Kurunegala Hospital.
