Rev. Fr. Jeewantha Peiris granted bail
Rev. Fr. Jeewantha Peiris who surrendered to the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today (August 12) was released on bail.
He was charged with engaging in an unlawful protest by violating a court order.
During the court proceedings, Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage rejected a request made by the Colombo Central Crimes Investigation Division and Rev. Fr. Jeewantha Peiris was released on two personal bails of Rs. 500,000/-.
In addition, Rev. Fr. Jeewantha Peiris was barred from travelling overseas by the court and was also ordered to report to the Colombo Central Crimes Investigation Division on Saturday (August 13) morning to provide a statement.
The case against Rev. Fr. Jeewantha Peiris was scheduled to be taken up again on the 26th of August.

@ Guy Goda – Yes, he reminds me of Rohana Wijeweera, Marxist/Leninist/Communist demagogue who misled thousands upon thousands of SL youth, especially gullible university students in the JVP terrorism-insurgencies of 1971 and 1985/1989 and saw them perish with nothing achieved for themselves, for the JVP, or even the nation! No different in some respect to the demagogue Prabhakaran who did the same with innocent, gullible Tamils. First of all, I think this radical hag needs to step out of his robes as he is a disgrace to what Christ stood for (non-violence for example) and then second, I think the Vatican should excommunicate this hag and be done with him once and for all. I am sure the radical, violent Red Brothers will welcome him with a warm embrace and many kisses, so no loss as far as he is concerned too, I think.
