Sri Lankan President declares state of Emergency

Sri Lanka’s President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has declared a state of emergency with effect from midnight today (May 06), the President Media Division (PMD) said.
The President has declared so, in the interest of public security, the preservation of public order and the maintenance of supplies and services essential to the life of the community.
