Suspect hangs himself in Ja-Ela police cell

A suspect who was arrested by the Ja-Ela police hanged himself in his cell last evening (April 21), police stated.
The suspect was apprehended on information received by the police and was kept in police remand following which the man had committed suicide in his cell.
The man had hanged himself using his own belt, the Police Media Spokesman stated.
The suspect was a 23 year old resident of the Thudalla area in Ja-Ela.
