UNP says law should be equal to all, including PM
UNP Colombo District MP Sujeewa Senasinghe demanded, in Parliament yesterday, that the Prime Minister’s coordinating secretary, who issued a letter seeking the release of a container that smuggled heroin from Karachi should be arrested immediately.
The MP said a separate investigation should be held with regard to the coordinating secretary.
“This container had brought in 250 kilos of heroin. It is equivalent to five bags of cement. This should be investigated. A coordinating secretary of the prime minister has issued a letter seeking the release of this container. The coordinating secretary should be put behind bars and this has to be investigated. The law is not applicable to those higher ups. If someone steals a bunch of bananas he would have been taken to the police and his bones would have been broken. The law should be equal to all including the prime minister,” he said.
