Will fight against politics involving drug kingpins: Rajitha
Fisheries Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne today in Parliament vowed to fight against politics involving drug kingpins and underworld.
In response to some comments made against him by a private radio channel, he said that he never dares to take a tough stand against drug dealings and underworld activities. Referring to the Mulleriyawa shooting incident, he said that Bharata Lakshman Premachandra who was killed in the incident was one of his close political colleagues.
“We did politics together in the Mahajana Party at that time. We do not shy away from drug dealers and underworld leaders. One radio channel has started attacking me. I am not bothered about it at all. I have been subjected to attacks more serious than this in the past. I will not stop my journey despite such attempts. I joined the government in the national interest. Yet, some persons joined the government only to get their licenses back,” he said.

Cocaine from Colombia, Heroin from Afghanistan, while Marijuana (Ganja, Hashish) is grown in many tropical countries, like SL. No country is free from drug abuse and the resulting increase in crime and health problems. Even misuse of alcohol is a big health risk.
I was glad by the steps taken by President to totally eliminate drug and alcohol misuse in SL and even smoking, due to health risks and health cost to the country. His ‘Mathata thitha’ programme was rolled out with a big fanfare. But how effective is it today? How honest is the President in total elimination of drug and alcohol misuse? These are bigger ‘killers’ than the LTTE. The threat from these silent killers hits every home in SL. They are insidious killers. They are worse than terrorists. These killers do more damage to the economy of the country that the LTTE. Only the drug dealers get rich. But has the President, his Cabinet, his UPFA Govt woken up to this fact? These silent killers attack everyone, rich, poor, Tamil, Sinhalese, Muslim, Buddhist, Christian. No one is spared.
How serious is the President with his ‘Mathata thitha’ programme? If he is serious, he should be making an all out war on this silent killers, worse than the LTTE.
Come on Hon Sir, You rid the nation of the LTTE, is it not high time you plan an act seriously and definitively against drug and alcohol abuse? Nice sound bytes are not what we want. We need action!
As the Commander-in-Chief, please order the Defence Secretary, the entire security forces into action against the drug and alcohol menace. Let us be the first country in the world to rid the country of the most deadly terrorism of drug and alcohol abuse. Well co-ordinated operation by the entire security forces is all we need, through the length and breadth of the country. The navy to stop drugs and alcohol entering the country. Destroy their boats/ships and the network of smugglers. The ganja fields in the country to be identified, located and totally destroyed by the ground forces of police and troops, with stiff sentences to the culprits.
All men, IRRESPECTIVE OF STATUS, to be arrested and punished through the courts with stiff penalties for drug dealing. If this is carried out with equal commitment and zeal as you carried out the war on LTTE terrorists, the terrorism of drug and alcohol misuse will be stopped.
However, this is an on-going fight, just as the war on terrorism in SL is an on-going war. Let us be the first country in the world with a President who has the courage and perseverence to rid the country of the fiercest terrorism of drug and alcohol misuse.
“KIYANA DE KARANAWA, KARANA DE KIYANAWA”. This is your oft repeated slogan, dear Hon President. Let us now do it.

I have always stood up against corrupt politicians with private armies of thugs and drug dealers, who are being supported by them. The idiot ‘udu’, the polmudda as someone labelled him, has little upstairs. He does nothing else but ridicule and insult other bloggers. He used utter obscene language before, Total filth! Which showed his class. When challenged by me, he claimed it was a ‘fake’ Udu. What rubbish! There was no such fake. That is why he is now crying that I complained to the Administrator against his use of obscenities, which lowered the tone and standard of this website. This polmudda is an utter moron! I have compared ‘drug and alcohol’ problem as a form of terrorist killer, which has gripped the country. PS misconstrues it. He is such a moron! Anyway LTTE terrorism is sethapochchi.
