A forest fire in a section of the Bio Diversity Complex in Ambuluwawa, Gampola was extinguished with the help of two Air Force helicopters. The fire erupted on Tuesday evening, spreading to other areas.
The Kandy fire brigade was unable to douse the fire since it was on a hilly and steep location. Police said about 300 acres of pine forest and other flora and fauna were destroyed.
