Millennium Challenge Corporation agreement – Only after Parliament’s approval: Mangala
Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera today assured that the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement would only take effect after Parliament ratifies it and that it would be presented to the House after the presidential election.
He told Daily Mirror the Cabinet endorsed the agreement last week and it would take effect once Parliament approved only.
When asked when it would be presented to the House, he said there was no time limit to do so and most probably it would be after the presidential election.
“That is the usual practise,” he said.
The government has sought to sign this agreement with the MCC to qualify for the US$480 million grant to modernise the transport sector and land administration.
However, there is a lot of criticism on the clauses involving land administration in particular.

Hi Mangala,
Which Parliament are you talking about?
On 17 Nov 2019, following the comprehensive victory of Mr GR, a new Govt will be formed with Hon MR as PM.
Hon MR’s Govt will consist current SLPP members in Parliament and SLFP members in Parliament.
Your Leader, Mod*dasa, UNP losers, JVP and Separatist Tamils will be opposition.
The MCC Agreement will be ceremonially dumped in the Diyawanne Oya by Hon Wimal W.
Dear G Mangala.
Your current boss, Ponil, will sign anything.
Your future boss, M-Dasa will do anything because he does not know how to read and write!
MCC is dead. It is unlikely that Gota will give a green light to it. In Sri Lanka we have only one Corridor. Not a Corridor dividing the country and managed by laws alien to mother Sri Lanka.
Mangala,
After 17 Nov 2019, the MCC Agreement will be reviewed by the New president’s Economic and Social Advisers coming from Viyath Maga and Lawyer Ali Sabry, former CBK Boss, Ajit Nivaard Cabraal and Senior Entrepreneur, Dr Nalaka Godahewa.
Just look at the strength of the team which will assist the New President.
The Agreement will be rejected and the money returned to the US.
You and your new illiterate Boss who will be opposition leader can travel to White House and request President Trump to use the money to build the Mexico Wall or kill more Muslims in Syria.
Dear Khemage Koluwa,
Stop farting in public in the last days of the Campaign.
