Muslims allowed skull cap for IDs
Posted in Local News
Muslim nationals are entitled to obtain their National Identity Cards with their picture wearing the skull cap with effect from yesterday, Department of Registration of Persons Commissioner General Jagath P. Wijeweera said.
The circular in this regard was issued on Monday.
“However Muslims taking their picture for the NIC wearing the skull cap should ensure that the cap only covered the head without obstructing the forehead,” he said. Similarly Muslim women are entitled to wear the purdah when taking photographs to be used in the NIC. They should however ensure that the left ear is fully visible in the picture.
