President gifts Black Tea to be sent to China
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa gifted a consignment of world renowned Ceylon Black Tea to the Chinese Ambassador Cheng Xueyuan to be sent to those affected by the Coronavirus yesterday.
Ambassador Xueyuan deeply appreciated the gesture. He on behalf of President Xi Jingping and the Government of People’s Republic of China thanked Government of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lankan people for the kindness shown to China in this difficult moment, the President’s Media Division in a communiqué said.
He also thanked all the religious and other leaders who organized the all night Pirith sermon on February 5. Every divisional secretariat throughout the Island conducted the Pirith ceremony at the same time, blessing those who are affected for a speedy recovery.
President Rajapaksa in turn thanked the Ambassador for the assistance extended to bring back the Sri Lankan students from Wuhan province.
Thank you Mr. President. China is a friend of SL with a relationship of thousands of years. A friend in need is a friend indeed. Besides, Any Time is CEYLON TEA TIME!
Amarakoon, very true! From the time of over 1000 years ago where the Chinese emperor even sent an armada of troops with a Sinhala prince who was his honored royal guest as he had sailed to China to escape a vicious Dravida/Chola invasion of Sri Lanka, and made ‘a short order’ of the invaders, even to the modern times when China was a best friend Sri Lanka during the vicious LTTE terrorism days, where Chinese supplied modern weapons made a decisive factor in winning that war too, China has been a true friend of Sri Lanka always. Glad to see Prez Gota and GOSL being on the right track here, with sincere expression of our even a token gratitude to China at this hour of China’s need!
