A petrol bomb blast was reported in the Sri Jayawardenapura University early this morning damaging a memorial statue within the University. The blast had occured at around 1.25am. Sources believe that the bomb was used by pro ragging students to dissuade ‘ ‘marshals’ who have been placed in the university to prevent ragging.

These uni students are misled by political bankrupts such as JVP. ‘Ragging’ itself is now a criminal offence, quite rightly so. Innocent first year students, especially from villages, fall prey to these sadistic elements in universities. ‘Raggers’ should be punished by expelling them from universities and by long prison sentences with hard labour. Political parties involved should also be punished by severe fines and prison sentences. This should hurt them.
I don’t think developed countries have this ‘ragging’ problem. It amazes me that uni students don’t appreciate the free tertiay education they are fortunate to receive from a benevolent GOSL. Most countries do not have free university education. An educated nation is a boon to a country in its development. Hence we continue to give free tertiary education also.
I wonder whether political parties like JVP, which incite uni students to commit crime could be banned altogether through the Courts.
