Serious safety lapses in SriLankan’s new planes

SriLankan Airlines lost certification to operate its new A320neo and A321neo aircraft for more than an hour outside the range of airports suitable for emergency landings after its Maintenance Department released one of the planes (registration 4R-ANE) for use despite having detected debris in the oil monitoring system of an engine.







Sirisena has no control over SLFP / UPFA

The No-Confidence Motion, moved against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, has confirmed that President Maithripala Sirisena, who is the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and the Leader of the United People’s Freedom Alliance, had failed to bring the parties or his group of Parliamentarians to one mindset, the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) said yesterday (5).





National Govt. will continue: Ranil

Soon after defeating the no-confidence motion against him in Parliament, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe told the media that the current National government will continue with the members who remain in it.









Tonight’s vote will decide PM’s fate

Parliament will debate the no-faith motion, moved by the Joint Opposition (JO), against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, from 10.00 am to 9.00 pm today. The vote on the motion will be taken at 9.00 pm as per a decision by party leaders.
