Karu to be common candidate?

UNP’s Karu Jayasuriya is tipped to be the Common Opposition Presidential Candidate at the forthcoming presidential election, informed sources said.
Accordingly the main opposition UNP and the JVP had already decided to support Jayasuriya as the common candidate.
It is also learnt that UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe would not contest from the UNP but pave the way for a common opposition candidate. Former President Chandrika Kumaratunga and Ven. Maduluwawe Sobitha Thera had also extended their fullest support to Mr. Jayasuriya, sources added.
