President’s Counsel Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, yesterday, giving evidence before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) investigating political victimisation under the last government, said Rajitha Senaratne, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Sarath Fonseka, Arjuna Ranatunga and JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake had tried to have Gotabaya Rajapaksa arrested over the Avant-Garde controversy.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday told a group of Bank of Ceylon officials that he had not instructed them to assist any of his relatives, associates or those who had supported him. State banks should take the lead in assisting everyone from farmers to investors, he said.
