Considering the current situation in relation to the spread of COVID-19, the government has banned all incoming passenger flights and passenger ships entering the country until further notice.

Over 338 persons have been arrested for violating curfew island-wide from 6.00 am on Friday to 9.00 am today (22), according to the Police Media Spokesperson.

Another 298 Sri Lankans have arrived in the island from pilgrimage to India.

A tense situation has been reported from the Anuradhapura Prisons; Police and the Special Task Force (STF) have been called in to control situation.

At least 130 individuals had been arrested by the police for violating the curfew which was imposed island-wide since yesterday, the Police Headquarters said.
