PHI calls for an island-wide lockdown

The Public Health Inspector’s Union of Sri Lanka says considering the prevailing COVID-19 situation, the entire country should be placed under lockdown or at least the attention should be drawn towards imposing strict travel restrictions.





March 2016 Bonds Scam: Trial to go ahead without two accused

The Colombo High Court Trial-at-Bar yesterday decided to proceed with the case, in connection with the 2016 Central Bank Treasury Bonds auction scam, sans the presence of two accused, ex-CBSL Governor Arjuna Mahendran and a former director of Primary Dealer Perpetual Treasuries Limited, Ajahn Gardiya Punchihewa.













Hospitals reach full capacity

While saying that the capacity in hospitals where COVID patients were treated had exceeded, Director General of Health Services Dr Asela Gunawardana yesterday cautioned the public over irresponsible behaviour, stating that the number of hospitalisations surged within a week.
