CID sergeant tipped off Harin’s father about Easter attack a day earlier

A CID officer involved in a number of investigations into Islamic extremism had made a six-minute phone call to Nihal Fernando, MP Harin Fernando’s father on April 20, 2019 and probably warned the latter of the impending suicide bomb attacks, the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) investigating the Easter Sunday attacks was informed on Wednesday.



Sri Lanka to Withdraw from UNHRC

While concurring with the position that Sri Lanka should pull out from the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), Cabinet Spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella said, Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena informing the UNHRC of the withdrawal from the co-sponsorship of Resolution 30/1 was the initial step in the process.

The draft 20th Amendment to the Constitution submitted through Parliament will be discussed, debated, following a complete democratic process, where all stakeholders will have the opportunity to present their views, the Sri Lankan Mission in Geneva told the 45th Session of the Human Rights Council (HRC).
