Sri Lanka to strengthen Sangha disciplinary laws

The Government of Sri Lanka is taking steps to amend the Buddhist Temporalities Ordinance to ensure that monks involved in disciplinary violations can be punished regardless of their rank and to strengthen the administration of disciplinary matters within the Sangha.

IMF approves US$695 million for Sri Lanka

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved the combined Fifth and Sixth Reviews of Sri Lanka’s economic reform program, allowing the country to receive about US$695 million in fresh funding under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) arrangement.
