Re-arrest Riyaj Bathiudeen!

A group of Government MPs have sent a written request to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, to have Riyaj Bathiudeen, the brother of All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) Leader MP Rishad Bathiudeen, who had allegedly helped National Thowheed Jama’ath (NTJ) Leader Zaharan Hashim  to flee to India in 2018, rearrested and launch a fresh probe into the allegations levelled at him.











Bathiudeen’s brother aided Zaharan’s escape

The Directorate of Military Intelligence (DMI), in 2018, informed a weekly Intelligence review meeting that National Thowheed Jama’ath (NTJ) Leader Zaharan Hashim had fled to India by boat with the support of MP Rishad Bathiudeen’s brother, said former Army Commander, General Mahesh Senanayake.






No legalising of narcotic substances – PM

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa assured that the government has no intention of legalising narcotic substances. He said tobacco sales had decreased due to its high prices as a result of prohibitive taxes and increased awareness among the public of the ill-effects of smoking cigarettes.



Only painkillers given for flu like symptoms – Employees

Symptoms of COVID-19 first started appearing among workers at the Brandix facility in Minuwangoda from 20 September, Brandix sources said.  The medical centre at Brandix had given only pain relief medication to a majority of employees who had complained of fever, colds and cough.
