Sri Lanka tightens vehicle loan limits again

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka says its decision to further reduce maximum loan values for motor vehicles has come into effect from today (May 25), lowering the loan limit for commercial vehicles to 60% and personal vehicles to 40%.



CBSL caps gold loans at 70% LTV

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has capped loans granted against gold collateral at 70% of the gold’s value with effect from today (May 25), citing risks to financial system stability due to the rapid growth of gold-backed lending.










Disaster Relief Officer arrested, remanded in bribery case

A suspended Disaster Relief Services Officer attached to the Monaragala Divisional Secretariat was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) over allegedly accepting a Rs. 100,000 bribe from government compensation money given for a house damaged by Cyclone Ditwah.
