Central Bank tightens its monetary policy stance

The Monetary Board of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has decided to increase the Standing Deposit Facility Rate (SDFR) and the Standing Lending Facility Rate (SLFR) of the Central Bank by 50 basis points each, to 5.00 per cent and 6.00 per cent, respectively.



More towns impose self-lockdowns

Trade Associations in several more towns have decided to close down all shops and business establishments on a temporary basis as a result of the fast spreading COVID-19 risk.








Rishad Bathiudeen further remanded

Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen who was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department under the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act, was remanded until the 01st of September.
